Naturopathy is a comprehensive, individualised approach to healthcare which aims to identifying and treat the underlying root cause of disease.  Naturopathic medicine focuses on restoring an individual’s health by working with the various body systems to re-establish a state of homeostasis (balance).

The modern day degree qualified Naturopath is highly trained and draws on both science and traditional Naturopathic philosophies to assess an individual’s health status. A Naturopathic assessment is comprehensive and takes into consideration an individual’s genetic predisposition, current lifestyle factors,  past and present environmental exposures and medical history. Pathology and functional test results and other investigative approaches may also be used to help establish an accurate picture of an individual’s health presentation.  While there is an initial focus on improving unpleasant symptoms, the ultimate goal of the Naturopathic practitioner is to treat the underlying cause of the disease and re-establish health and harmony.

Naturopathy places a strong emphasis on education and preventative healthcare and aims to educate and empower the client to understand their individual health needs. A Naturopathic consultation may provide effective symptomatic relief while also focusing on treating the underlying cause of the presenting symptoms or health condition. A personalised Naturopathic treatment plan may incorporate a range of approaches including dietary suggestions, professionally prescribed nutritional and/or herbal medicines as well as lifestyle advice. Naturopaths like to work collaboratively with other health care professionals to facilitate comprehensive, effective healthcare approaches for their individual client.
